Why is our shop called Aunties’ Arts & Tats?
While we (Tessa and Lee) both identify as nonbinary and use they/them pronouns, we choose to use the gendered term Aunties because they were both culturally shaped by their aunties. An aunt is both a good influence and a bad influence, and can be exactly the support you need when growing in the world. An aunt will get you into a little bit of fun trouble, but will keep you safe!
Why did we open aunties’?
We opened up Aunties’ Arts & Tats for two reasons: to create body art & and connect community!
We know how it feels to love tattoos - getting excited about a piece and feeling so happy afterwards! We also love tattooing, and we wanted to create a safe, queer-friendly space in Milwaukie for tattoo fantasies to become reality.
We also are people-people! We love fostering community and bringing art into the world! We adore our corner of Milwaukie & want to nurture it with art and laughter and play.
What does aunties’ offer?
We prioritize being client-centered at Aunties’! During your appointment, you can expect yummy snacks, beverages, a clean & sanitary environment, and a comfortable and fun physical space.
We prioritize accessibility ~ our shop is accessible for wheelchair users, and we use fat-positive equipment & supplies. Need a silent appointment or a fidget toy while you get tattooed? We got you, and we support whatever your unique brain needs to make it through the tattoo experience!
